Interactive Crochet Art by Ernesto Neto

From June 6 to July 25, 2025, Brazilian artist Ernesto Neto invites visitors to step into a unique world of color, rhythm, and natural materials at the Grand Palais in Paris. His latest installation, Nosso Barco Tambor Terra (Our Earth Drum Boat), transforms the North Nave of the Grand Palais into a massive, walk-through sculpture made of crochet, tree bark, and spices.
This multisensory artwork is more than just a visual experience. It connects body and earth through handcrafted elements, organic textures, and traditional techniques. Neto blends cultural rituals, sound, and scent to create a space where people can slow down, interact, and reflect on their connection to nature.
Inside the installation, hidden drums and instruments from around the world invite playful exploration. Visitors are welcome to engage with the space, creating rhythms and movements that echo throughout the structure.
By bringing together different cultures, Neto celebrates unity through art. His work speaks to universal themes of community, environment, and the shared human experience.
The installation is accompanied by a public program that includes concerts, workshops, and guided tours for all ages. It’s a must-see event for anyone interested in contemporary art, sensory design, or immersive exhibitions.
