Bardejov Becomes the Center of Global Poster Art – Poster Quadrennial Bardejov Krakow 2025 Opens Finalists Exhibition and Awards Prizes
Bardejov, June 12, 2025 – Eastern Slovakia is set to welcome the pinnacle of international poster design. The third edition of the prestigious international competition Poster Quadrennial Bardejov Krakow 2025 (PQB 2025) will culminate in a gala awards ceremony and the opening of the finalists exhibition on June 21, 2025, at 5:00 PM in the historic Colonnade in Bardejov Spa. The exhibition will run until July 29, 2025.
Poster Quadrennial Bardejov Krakow offers a unique platform for showcasing professional poster design in Slovakia. Its main goal is to confront, inspire, and develop contemporary international poster art, track current trends, and support the artistic and conceptual direction of design as a tool for social change.
The theme of this year’s edition is ecology and sustainability. The competition challenges designers to reflect on today’s environmental issues through visually powerful messages—from the climate crisis to the need for ecologically responsible behavior. Here, the poster becomes not only an artwork but also a call to action.
The competition was held in two categories:
- Free Poster – space for personal artistic expression and social themes
- Eco-Poster – posters responding to climate and environmental threats such as droughts, floods, fires, and global warming
A total of 366 designers from 31 countries submitted 827 posters. An international expert jury composed of renowned designers, educators, and their students from Poland and Slovakia selected the best works, which will be presented in three separate exhibitions in Bardejov Spa and Krakow.
The jury members are:
Monika Chrabąszcz, Ania Jaszczyk, Lenka Šturmankinová, Ľubica Reváková, Sára Dzurjová, Władysław Pluta, Szymon Kiwerski, Tomek Sadowski, Peter Eliáš, Róbert Paršo, Peter Javorík
The event promotes intergenerational dialogue and cross-border cooperation—the jury uniquely combines professional designer-educators and their students, strengthening the exchange of experience and creative development of young talents.
The aim of Poster Quadrennial Bardejov Krakow 2025 is not only to strengthen Slovakia’s position on the global poster map but also to open space for discussion about ethics, design, and its impact on society. The exhibited posters serve as communication tools that encourage sustainability, critical thinking, and cultural awareness.
