Jenny Saville’s Powerful Works in London

From June 20 to September 7, 2025, the National Portrait Gallery in London presents The Anatomy of Painting, a powerful solo show by British artist Jenny Saville. The exhibition features fifty works from across her career, offering a unique look at how her art has evolved since the early 1990s.
Known for her bold approach to the human body, Saville combines charcoal drawings and large-scale oil paintings to challenge traditional ideas of beauty and identity. The show includes her iconic nudes as well as new portrait works that reflect today’s digital age and how it affects our sense of physical presence.
Saville’s raw and expressive brushstrokes highlight the tension between physical flesh and visual perception. Her new paintings focus on modern identities, showing how real and virtual bodies merge in today’s world.

Learn more about the exhibition on the National Portrait Gallery website or explore more about the artist via the Gagosian gallery.
