This summer, the Royal Academy of Arts invites visitors to experience a remarkable meeting of minds: Kiefer / Van Gogh. For the first time in the UK, the powerful works of Anselm Kiefer will be shown alongside masterpieces by Vincent van Gogh.
This exhibition looks at how Van Gogh has inspired Kiefer over the decades — not just in style, but in emotion, subject, and spirit. While both artists explore themes like nature, memory, and the human condition, they speak in very different visual languages.
The show includes Van Gogh’s drawings and paintings from the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam, paired with Kiefer’s large-scale works, drawings, and even a brand new sculpture, never shown before.
