Internationally acclaimed artist Huma Bhabha brings her newest body of work to David Zwirner Paris in a much-anticipated solo exhibition titled Distant Star. The show opens on June 13, 2025, and offers an immersive experience through sculptures, drawings, and photographs that reflect Bhabha’s signature exploration of the human form.
In this exhibition, Bhabha presents hand-carved sculptures made from clay, cork, and cast iron. Her powerful pieces challenge conventional notions of identity and portraiture while pushing the boundaries of form and material. Visitors will also encounter new works on paper and oxidized metal figures that expand her visual language and artistic narrative.
Distant Star marks Bhabha’s third exhibition with David Zwirner since the gallery announced its representation of her in 2022. It also marks her first solo show in Paris in over 15 years, adding a historical significance to this occasion.
This presentation aligns with Bhabha’s upcoming participation in Encounters: Giacometti, opening in May 2025 at the Barbican Centre in London. Co-organized with the Fondation Giacometti, the show places Bhabha’s sculptures in dialogue with those of Alberto Giacometti, offering a compelling conversation between past and present sculptural visions.
