Teresa Solar Abboud Joins Lehmann Maupin Ahead of Hayward Gallery Project

Lehmann Maupin proudly welcomes Madrid-based artist Teresa Solar Abboud. The announcement comes as she prepares a new public sculpture for London’s Hayward Gallery.

In the past year, Solar Abboud completed major projects, including a site-specific work for New York’s High Line and solo shows at Madrid’s CA2M and Barcelona’s MACBA. Her art blends sculpture, drawing, and video, often merging the mechanical with the fantastical.

Notable works include the bright yellow petals of Birth of Islands (High Line, 2024) and the dynamic Crushed by Pressure. Debris (2017) explores scale and material tension with playful yet transformative forms that evoke bodies, machines, and alien worlds.

Rachel Lehmann, co-founder of Lehmann Maupin, praised Solar Abboud’s visionary approach. She said, “Teresa’s work is bold, visceral, and invents new visual languages.”

Solar Abboud’s monograph accompanies her touring exhibition Bird Dream Machine, now at Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo in Turin until October 2025. She will debut solo shows with Lehmann Maupin in New York (April 2026) and London (September 2026).
