Gagosian is thrilled to announce a new exhibition featuring paper-based works by American artist Rick Lowe. The show will run from June 3 to June 28, 2025, at the gallery’s Burlington Arcade location in London.
Rick Lowe, internationally acclaimed for blending art with community engagement, explores new creative territory with this series. Known for integrating collaborative projects into his work, Lowe now focuses on paper-based art, combining collage and painting. His pieces reflect the complexity of social networks, urban life, and personal experience.
These layered works mix vibrant colors, geometric patterns, and intuitive brushstrokes. They evoke maps, typographic systems, and domino formations—symbols rich with cultural and personal significance. Inspired by games he played with local communities, Lowe’s visual rhythms serve as a form of social mapping. They highlight his enduring interest in human connections and spatial memory.
The exhibition coincides with Lowe’s large-scale painting Cavafy Remains (2024), showcased in the Unlimited sector at Art Basel 2025 from June 16 to 22. This dual presentation highlights Lowe’s dynamic range—from intimate paper works to monumental canvases that engage public spaces.
Additionally, visitors can explore selected publications at the gallery’s ground-floor Gagosian Shop, including the recent catalogue for Hic Sunt Dracones (Here Lay Dragons): Mapping the Unknown (2023), exhibited at the Benaki Museum in Athens.
This exhibition offers a unique opportunity to experience the intersection of art, community, and conceptual form through Rick Lowe’s evolving abstract language.
