Gavin explores nature through vivid colors, raw textures, and square formats. His works highlight growth, transformation, and the powerful forces shaping the land and sky. Some paintings use unprimed wood panels, allowing the natural grain to become part of the composition.
Themes range from blooming sunflowers and tidal pools to cosmic beginnings. In Untitled (Protostar) (2025), Gavin imagines the birth of the sun. Other works capture forest life, fallen trees, and dynamic coastlines. One piece, Untitled (Aquarium) (2025), reflects on artificial marine habitats.
Starting May 22, 2025, Gagosian Hong Kong presents new paintings by Cy Gavin. This marks his debut in Asia.
