Paula Cooper Gallery in New York will host Borderline, a group exhibition on view from July 8 to August 8, 2025. This show explores how artists engage with the themes of mapping, direction, territory, and distance. Each work offers a unique look at how we understand space and borders in today’s world.
In recent years, global tensions have drawn more attention to the idea of boundaries. Artists in this exhibition challenge how maps shape political power and identity. Some highlight personal movement through space, while others explore how lines on a map divide communities.
The exhibition features works from the 1960s through today. Visitors will see a range of mediums, including drawing, photography, sculpture, and conceptual installations. Each piece invites viewers to question the systems we use to define where we are and how we move.
