TerraViva Competitions has launched La Madreselva, an international architecture challenge set in the heart of Argentina’s Pampas. The goal: design an expansion of La Madreselva that can host up to 20 guests while preserving the site’s intimate and rustic character.
Participants are invited to propose small-scale lodging units that blend effortlessly with the natural surroundings. Rather than creating a generic tourist retreat, the competition encourages designers to craft a living environment—one that celebrates rural culture, tradition, and connection.
The €10,000 prize pool will be awarded by an international jury, recognizing the most compelling architectural responses. The competition is open to architects, designers, students, and creative professionals from around the world.
Designers have freedom in their spatial strategies. They may suggest modular units, clustered arrangements, or scattered volumes across the landscape. Whether proposing a single multifunctional building or a network of independent spaces, participants should prioritize flexibility, community interaction, and landscape integration.
La Madreselva attracts travelers who seek calm, reflection, and connection with nature, ranging from digital nomads to families. The challenge calls for designs that go beyond hospitality: spaces that nurture bonfires, folk music, shared meals, and spontaneous gatherings.
